EMPTY FRUIT BUNCH (EFB) PELLET

This energy source is also identified as saw dust pellet. It is made from oil palm Empty Fruit Bunch (EFB) fibre and a processing formula that improves the quality of the shredded EFB and turned into mini pellets. Not only is this EFB pellet small and logistically easy to manage, but it is also low in moisture with high calorific value to maintain thermal energy in the burning process.

Malaysia is one of the world’s largest producers of palm oil. Understandably, this creates the by-product which is EFB which until recently has minimal usage. With climate change issue, Malaysia has vowed to do better and convert biomass waste into renewable energy. Hence, EFB fibre (thin and light weight) is converted into EFB pellet (small and dense) to be one of the sources of heat generation.

PRIMERA EFB PELLET

Primera EFB pellet is a product resulting from the refinement of the EFB pellet process.

Primera EFB pellets are more fragile and lighter because the moisture content is lower than the regular EFB pellets.

Primera EFB pellet has high energy efficiency, allowing to quickly combust and maintain thermal heat to generate energy. The pelletization process that Primera EFB pellet undergo causes it to have very little moisture, low humidity and in turn, result in high calorific value allowing for a high-quality heat generation. Primera EFB pellets are suitable for most boiler grinding systems and is easy for operation and storage due to its size.

PALM KERNEL SHELL (PKS)

Palm Kernel Shell (PKS) is a layer that protects the oil palm kernel. It is the shell fractions left after the nut has been removed after crushing in the palm oil mill. PKS has an estimated small diameter of around 10mm. It is one of the best natural biomass fuels due to its hard physical, small size and a very low humidity level of below 25%.

PKS are fibrous and has low moisture content compared to other biomass residues allowing it to have a higher heating value (high calorific value). PKS is a good quality biomass fuel with uniform size distribution, easy handling and easy crushing.

As a raw material for biomass briquettes or pellets, PKS have similar calorific characteristics as coconut shells. However, its smaller size makes it easier to process for mass production and its resulting coal can be pressed into a heat efficient biomass briquettes or pellets. PKS also has a low sulphur content which emits very little emission compared to the current energy fuels used around the world. Essentially, it has positive health impacts on the ozone layer, supporting the fight against climate crisis.

EFB BIOCHAR

EFB Biochar is produced through the heating process of agricultural residues between the temperatures of 400- 700 Celsius in a closed space without the presence of oxygen.

EFB Biochar has a high carbon content and is suitable for soil conservation purposes because of its ability to maintain soil nutrient contents for long periods.

EFB Biochar is 100% made from natural resources. It is alkaline and it contributes to soil properties improvements, fostering plant growth. Due to its low moisture content, it allows a faster combustion process compared to other biomass waste resources. Its high calorific value enables it to maintain thermal heat, making it a stable product for heat generation.

PKS BIOCHAR

Palm Kernel Expeller (PKE) or Palm Kernel Cake (PKC) is a by-product of the palm oil extraction process from the fruit of the oil palm. It is a quality stock feed containing high levels of crude protein and moderate energy levels. It is safe to be consumed as high energy feeds supplement for instance, molasses or Biscuit Cereal Meal for numerous classes of livestock.

PKS Biochar has a high crude protein and fat contents making it a good supplement in stock feed. PKS Biochar has moderate high energy levels and it also provides high energy in feed supplements such as corn silage or molasses.
